Learn about opting out of EdTech from a parent who's done it!

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, come join Emily Cherkin, former middle school teacher, current parent, and aka The Screentime Consultant, as she shares about opting her own 7th grade daughter out of the school-issued technology; what her family has learned; how her daughter is doing; and what other parents need to know if they are interested in exploring an Opt Out path.

This webinar is for parents who are concerned about excessive screen use in school and curious about the why, what, and how of Opting Out of EdTech. There are actually several ways to do it, and Emily will be sure to highlight them all! Come with your questions, as Emily will leave plenty of time for brainstorming and trouble-shooting.

Participants will learn:

  • Different ways to think about “opting out” of school-issued tech;

  • Strategies to partner with and support your teachers and school while also advocating for children’s needs and development;

  • How to see that opting out benefits learning and skill development;

  • Ways to work with other parents to join you in collective action– you are not alone!
