Across the globe, schoolchildren are increasingly being handed tablets and laptops in the name of building “21st century skills.” At first blush, EdTech marketing attempts to make a convincing case for the “need” for such tools; however, there are many reasons to be concerned about the efficacy, safety, and legality of giving children such powerful devices.

Develop responses rooted in independent research to advocate for change;
Learn about “opting out” of EdTech and what that might look like;
Strategize on how to approach teachers and school administrators;
Receive a free copy of the UnPlug EdTech Toolkit that includes letter templates and tips to consider;
Be encouraged to ask questions and troubleshoot live;
Hear about your legal options if you are met with resistance.
The goal of this training is to educate and inform concerned parents about EdTech and to encourage and empower collective action. Research and resources will be discussed.
